Tooldrives spindle system - suitable for drilling, screwing, deburring

In this customer test, 16 screws had to be unscrewed from the box for the repair of soundbars and screwed back in after the repair. In order to be able to offer our customer a solution, we had to improvise in some places.

To begin with, a suitable gantry robot was selected. To make the screwing process possible, we received a Cobot spindle system from the company Tooldrives, which can be equipped with various attachments. To hold the screws securely, a ring magnet was attached to the bit attachment, which permanently megnetizes the bit. The screw is then rotated into a fixture where it can be picked up again after repair.

The ToolDrives IHS-ADU system (Intelligent High Speed Automatic Drilling Unit) takes 17 seconds to drill 100 holes with a diameter of 6 mm in a coated composite wood panel 6 mm deep. The integrated suction system ensures a clean working environment and drill holes without residual chips.

In this customer test, the touchscreen of a tablet was to be tested for quality assurance functionality. Due to the high speed, an igus® 3-axis delta robot was used for this, which repeatedly runs through the programmed movement in a robot cell.

igus® Delta robots are available as 2-axis robots with 400 or 700m and as 3-axis robots with 360 mm or 660 mm working space. Ideal for pick and place tasks in diverse application areas. On request, the robot can be installed directly with the controller in a cell. In addition, the customer application can be tested in advance with us. With the igus Robot Control, programming is also no problem.
